05/29 Pre-Ride-Questionnaire

Tell us about the first time you rode a bike.
I got my first “big girl bike” for my 5th birthday and my dad taught me to ride it in the parking lot of my elementary school. He dressed me in an over sized T-shirt and helped me to balance by holding on to the back of it.

Tell us about a crazy moment or embarrassing experience with Type 1.
The first time I flew alone, I had just graduated high school and was on my way to spend four months abroad. Going through security, I was asked to do an explosives test on my pump. Turns out I still had residual glucose tab powder on my hands, which apparently sets the machine off and I was whisked away to a private room and asked a bunch of questions. I was eventually released allowed to continue about my business, but since then I have developed a habit of washing my hands before going through airport security lines.

What would your spirit animal be?
A tree frog.

What’s your go-to low snack?
Juicy juice.

Tell us something on your bucket list.
Visit all 7 continents. I have 3 more to go!

If your friends could pick three adjectives to describe you, what would they be?
Passionate, curious, driven.

What’s the last thing you watched on TV and why?
A documentary about food waste called “Just Eat It” for a food systems class I am currently taking.

Tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
In 6th grade, I won a poetry contest with a poem I wrote about how much I dislike lasagna.

What’s a super power you wish you had?
The ability to time travel.

Tell us something you’re good at!
Peeling oranges.

If you had a theme song for yourself, what would it be?
“Go the Distance” from the Hercules soundtrack

If you had a nick name/alter ego for yourself during the ride, what would it be?
My trail name is Chipmunk, so I guess that can double as my ride identity as well!
